Extreme Home Makeover

Extreme Home Makeover is doing a house here in Phelan. The Almquist family owns and operates a shelter for Exotic Animals that are abused. You can see their site at 4everwild.org. They are an awesome family. Joel, the owner, is the guy that came and took our Mojave Green Rattlesnakes a couple of years ago.

Here is the house as of Friday at about 11:00am.

Jill and I went out to volunteer. They were running behind schedule, so they were only allowing "professionals" in to help. We ended up helping in the VIP tent, run by Tom Steeno and his wife. They needed someone to take food over to Billy Ray Cyrus and his crew at the concert. Jill and I volunteered to take the food over.

While we were in with Bill Ray Cyrus's crew and the ABC production people, a very nice fire man came in and told us to evacuate the Lodge because it was on fire. We did not believe him, then he got angry and yelled at us. Here is what we saw as we came out of the lodge.

About 2 minutes after we evacuated here is the flames as we ran to shelter.

Here is the lodge about 30 minutes after we evacuated to across the lake.

This is the Bolder Creek Ranch, owned by the Hasty family. I went to school with their son Jason. This place is absolutely beautiful and I am sure that it will be rebuilt in no time!
