Dole Plantation

Today Brandi and I took the kids to the Dole Plantation. This is much different than I remember when I went a long time ago with my grandparents. This is the plantation.... not the factory!

Here is a little pineapple growing on the bush that they grow on.

This one is a little bigger

Sugar Cane

This is one of the machines that they use to harvest the pineapple. They were not harvesting while we were there, but they do harvest pineapples year round.

another machine

We took a train ride through the plantation, where we got to see the various machines and stages of the pineapple plants, as well as many other crops that they grow at the Dole Plantation.

Here are some more pineapple plants

Here we are getting ready to get on the train.

This is a banana tree

and the bananas... sideways I think I forgot to rotate this picture.

At the plantation there is also a botanical garden with all the different flowers and trees of Hawaii. There was also this waterfall there with some of the water flowers.

We had fun and learned a lot here. We also had pineapple ice cream which was not that great, but we had to try it.

I liked the Dole Plantation as well. The train ride taught me alot, since I do not know anything about the plants here! (ha,ha!) Now when we have more visitors, I will know a thing or too about nature!
