Scary Hospital Trip

As most of you know Mike was in the hospital for 5 days.  It was probably one of the most scary moments in our marriage.  For those of you who don't know here is the story.  On Thursday June 23rd, Mike called me (I was at work) and asked me to get him a doctors appointment.  I asked him if it was about his leg (he tore all 4 calf muscles at the end of May playing softball).  He said no that he was having a hard time breathing, bad pains in his back and had been coughing up blood the past 3 mornings.  Needless to say I freaked out a little.  He said that on that day he had coughed up more blood than normal and it was not just in the morning, that he had on the way to work too.
So I called my doctors office and they had no openings.  I was distraught... I was not going to take him to Urgent Care.  I said a little prayer and felt that I should call my doctors office again and ask them for a referral to another doctor.  So I did.  I told them I knew there were no openings, but that I needed a referral to another doctor, that I did not want to take Mike to the Urgent Care.  They asked for his "symptoms" which I gave what he told me.  They said they would call me back in a few minutes.  They did and said for him to come immediately.  He was diagnosed as having possible kidney problems and sent for a kidney x-ray.
When I got home from work/errands he was already home and not looking very good.  I was very worried but figured the doctor knew what they were doing.  Not long after he was in so much pain that I called the doctors office back and a good friend to get Mike a priesthood blessing.  The doctor called back and I went through all the symptoms and past leg injury with her (I found out at this point that Mike had seen the Nurse Practitioner and not the doctor a few hours before).  The doc told me to hang up and call 911 that she thought he may have a blood clot in his lung.  I explained to her that because of where we live I could have Mike to the ER before the ambulance would be at our house.  She said ok and called the hospital to let them know we were enroute.  I called Aletha and had her re-route Tim and Jas to the hospital to give Mike a blessing.
When we got to the hospital things moved pretty quickly.  Within 1 hour of checking in, Mike had an EKG, blood drawn and an ultrasound.  We found out that Mike had several blood clots in his leg and that most likely one had moved into his lungs.  Jas and Tim had waited for us and were able to give Mike a blessing.  I made a few phone calls to let family know what was going on.  Overall Mike was pretty happy (but bored and I think a little scared... I was a lot scared!)
After sitting and waiting for what seemed like forever, Mike was taken to have a CT Scan of his lungs.  He was unable to lay down so they were not able to do the complete CT Scan with contrast that they were hoping for.  But the CT Scan was positive for a Pulmonary Embolism (PE or Blood Clot) in his lung.  He was admitted to the hospital for 5 days.  It was a very scary five days for me.  Mike was bored out of his mind, and I cried and prayed a lot.
I know that my Heavenly Father heard my prayers and the prayers of friends and family.  Mike was able to come home after the 5 days.  He is still on blood medication and has to rest, but I am very grateful that he is still with us.  I love Mike more than he knows and would be lost without him.

I am also very grateful that his mom was able to come and be with us in the hospital, to ask the right questions and to be here with him and the kids so I could go to Girls Camp and fulfill the assignments that I had accepted.

I know that we will have a more trials to deal with along this path, but I am glad he is here and that we are able to continue our journey together.
