Hoover Dam Bridge (8 of 8)

This is the last post in my Thanksgiving series.  I hope you have had enjoyed looking at our pictures and seeing a little of our adventures.

One of the reasons we picked to travel the freeways we did was so we could go over the NEW bridge over the Colorado River that bypasses the Hoover Dam.  When we went over it on the way to Payson, we were disappointed.  You can not even see the Hoover Dam or the river for that matter.  The turn off to walk up on the bridge is on the Nevada side... nothing on the Arizona side.  So we decided we would stop on the way back.  Here is a picture of the bridge.
And of course we needed one of the Hoover Dam... I thought it was cool that you could see the shadow of the bridge.
Abi was the only kid that wanted to walk up on the bridge with Mike and I (the rest stayed in the car eating).  Here is Abi and me holding hands across the NV - AZ border.  I am on the Arizona side and she is on the Nevada side.
Here is another picture of Abi on the bridge.... can you see her little head poking out over the top of the rail?
It is an awesome bridge.  It took just over 10 years from idea to completion.  It is 880+ feet from the river, 280 feet above the dam, and 1905 feet long and 88 feet wide.  I am glad we took the time to stop and look!

Thanks for sharing your trip. You guys did a lot of fun stuff in that short tirp. And most importantly I think my Dad enjoyed having you there. Thanks for taking the time to go see him. Oh, I called him the other night and he seemed just fine. His neighbor was over helping him with paper work and financial stuff. He is remembering to take his medicine. I think he will be OK.
