Lions, Tigers and Bears oh My!

OK... so not really lions, tigers and bears, but how about a lizard and a snake?
Today it was a really nice day so I let the kids go outside and play in the water. Madison, Abi, Kade, Jace and Abi's friend Harley. Mike had left to go to the store and I was in the office scrapping or crafting or something. The kids started yelling "snake, snake, snake" So I jumped up and ran out to the family room, which they were all pushing their way in the sliding door. I asked "Where is the snake?" Kade says I'm not sure it is a snake, it could be a lizard... well it was both!
This cute little guy was stuck in the kids outside toy box, Jace tells me that it is his "friend" and that he lives in the toy box.
Then... this little, well not so little but kinda, well not really cute snake. In this picture he is between the toy box and the outside fireplace box.
I tried to catch him into a plastic box, so we could show Mike, of course he left his cell phone at home, but he was home before I was able to get it into the box. Mike ended up picking it up by its tail end and putting it into this box.
Kade named him "Bobbie" and he liked its orange eyes.... After we showed the snake to Celena (Harley's mom) the boys took it down the street a ways and let it go.
I am very grateful that the kids remembered what to do when they hear or see a snake, this time it was just a little, (big.... well ok... he was little) gopher snake. Mike thinks he was between 2 1/2 feet to 3 feet long. Hopefully we will not see him or any of his friends back in our yard anytime soon!

You are a brave Mom to try to catch the snake, I would have just left it. Hey at least with the snake around you shouldn't have any mice. Does the lizard help keep the bug population under control, we could use one of those.

UHHHHH that is definitely one of the things I DO NOT miss living there! That, and the dirt road, I was more than willing to part with that!
