San Diego Mission

It is that time of the school year again.... 4th grade Mission Project....

Abi's teacher did not want the kids to have to build a mission this year (we had to when Madison was in 4th grade).  I was very happy that she said that the kids could make a scrapbook.  So during Spring Break, I took my four kids and one of Abi's friends down to the Mission in San Diego, so that Abi and her friend could take pictures and make their scrapbooks.

Here are some pictures from the mission.

outside the mission

In the church, by the candles.  I let them light a candle.

The boys with the statue

Abi and her friend with the same statue

The kids by the water fountain.  I learned that the fountains
represent the California Aqueduct system.  The bigger
the fountain, the richer the mission.

The kids by the cross that is in memorial of the
Father that was killed by the Indians, while
trying to protect the people inside the mission.

There were so many pretty flowers... I love this picture.

We had a lot of fun.  It is always interesting to hear the history and learn about the missions.  We will be doing this again next year with Kade!
