Arizona Trip Day 2

On the second day of the Family Reunion, we had breakfast together at 9.  Of course my kids were up and ready to go at 6:30.... so we had some bread from the local famers market and Mike took the boys on a walk.

The played on the train tracks.
Then we headed up for breakfast.  Not much was planned for the day other than a few games, so we decided to go out and take an adventure.  We went to the cemetery where some family memebers were buried.
We saw some HUGE grasshoppers... boy were they ugly!
We found this really big scooper that helped with mining.
Here is our family in the scooper part
To put into perspective how massive this scooper is, we had Abi stand by the treads.... they were taller than she is.
There was also a playground that hold really old toys in it... the kids had never been on a merry go round like this before.
We also drove up to the area where the mine is.... it kinda looks like steps, this one is no longer in use.
We went to a cute little restaurant in town.  The roads were so tiny that the suburban barely fit down the road... good thing it was a pretty dead road!
On the way back to Duncan, we stopped to see a train that I thought was cute.  We found that next to the train was an underground jail.  We had read about it in a book about the area, but did not know where it was.  It was really dark down there... here is a picture.
Before heading back to the ranch in Duncan, we thought we would take the kids to New Mexico (it is like the other side of the ranch)... so we took a little detour.  The welcome to New Mexico sign.
As soon as we crossed the "border" this is what we saw.

Lots and lots of Pepper plants!
When we got back to the ranch, Jace just loved playing on this tractor.
We also took a group picture of everyone that was there.
I made a really yummy blackberry, raspberry, blueberry cobbler... but we forgot to take pictures of it.  To finish off the night (and the reunion) we had a camp fire.  Mike took this picture of the sunset/moon.
It was a great trip.  We are glad that we went.... watch for more picture of our adventure on the way home!

WOW! I am surprised at how many people were there! That grasshopper was disgusting! Those red pepper plants were interesting, I guess now you know what yours are supposed to look like when they get bigger=-0)
